How to Make Egg Cacao
Indulge in a Decadent Delight
Egg coffee origin
Vietnamese Egg Coffee, or Cà Phê Trứng, was first created in the lively city of Hanoi during the 1940s. Faced with a milk shortage, a resourceful café owner named Giang devised a substitute using a mixture of eggs and condensed milk. His innovative blend of strong coffee, whipped egg yolks, condensed milk, and sugar quickly captured the public’s imagination. Today, Cà Phê Trứng is a popular treat across Vietnam, with each café offering its unique twist. For those who wish to avoid caffeine but still enjoy a creamy, sweet beverage, there's now a delightful alternative: Egg Cacao.
Why is this beverage so beloved?
The answer lies in its creamy texture and unique flavour. The whisked egg yolks create a velvety, frothy consistency that clings to your spoon and leaves a charming moustache on your lip. Beyond its visual appeal, with its golden froth resting atop dark coffee, the drink also offers a flavour experience that's both rich and indulgent. The combination of bold brewed coffee, creamy sweetened condensed milk, and airy whipped egg yolks results in a taste reminiscent of custard and tiramisu. For an extra touch of flair in your social media photos, consider adding a sprinkle of cocoa powder or cinnamon on top!
