Let’s make it

Prepare the Phin:

  • Place the phin on top of your cup or glass.

  • Remove the top filter and add 2-3 tablespoons of coffee grounds into the phin. Adjust according to your preferred strength.

  1. Assemble the Phin:

    • Place the top filter on the coffee grounds and gently press down to compact the grounds.

  2. Pour Water:

    • Heat water to about 200°F (93°C). Pour a small amount of hot water into the phin (just enough to wet the grounds) and let it bloom for 20-30 seconds.

  3. Brew the Coffee:

    • After the grounds have bloomed, slowly pour the rest of the hot water into the phin.

    • Place the lid on top of the phin to trap the heat and allow the coffee to drip through.

  4. Wait Patiently:

    • Vietnamese coffee is brewed slowly, so be patient. It usually takes 5-7 minutes for the coffee to fully drip through the filter.

  5. Add Condensed Milk:

    • While the coffee is brewing, pour 2-3 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk into your cup or glass. Adjust according to your desired level of sweetness.

  6. Mix and Enjoy:

    • Once all the coffee has dripped through, remove the phin from your cup or glass.

    • Stir the condensed milk and coffee together until well combined.

    • If making iced coffee, add ice cubes to your glass before pouring in the coffee.

  7. Savor the Flavor:

    • Vietnamese coffee is best enjoyed slowly, savoring each sip of its rich and bold flavor.

Tips:

Experiment with different coffee-to-water ratios to find your perfect strength.

  • Adjust the amount of condensed milk to suit your taste preferences.

  • For a stronger brew, use a finer grind of coffee and a slower drip time.

  • Don't rush the brewing process – allow the flavors to develop slowly for the best results.
